Melinda French Gates is not a "fan" of the huge mansion she shared with her ex・husband Bill Gates, she shared in a new interview with TIME.

Philanthropist and Marie Claire contributor sounds like she's really pleased that she's swapped over-the-top homes for more modest dwellings.

"I live in the neighborhood," she told the magazine. "Now I can walk into a small shop. You can walk to the drugstore and walk to the restaurant. I absolutely love it.

The mansion that French Gates never loved was her original surreal home in Medina, Washington, most likely named "Xanadu 2.0" in relation to Citizen Kane. The house is obviously worth about113,000, counting 7 bedrooms and more than 18 bathrooms (wait, why?)...?).

Business insider reports that Xanadu 2.0 comes with a bunch of high-tech features, six kitchens and a trampoline room (literally, what???Can host, like a wedding reception hall... In short, it is modest.

Gates of France and her tech mogul ex divorced in 2021-5 and had been married for 27 years. In 2022, she told Fortune, "There were several reasons I couldn't stay in that marriage any more. But the strange thing about COVID is that it gave me the privacy to do what I needed. It's incredibly painful, in countless ways, but I had the privacy to get through it.

The philanthropist told the time that she had several priorities when she made the decision to divorce. "I thought a lot about 3 kids," she said. "But I certainly thought about the impact on the Foundation. It's 3 big buckets for me, the kids and the Foundation. And when we came through it to the other side, when I went through it by my side, I wanted to make sure those parts were all intact.

Execs share children Jennifer, 28, Rory, 25, and Phoebe, 21. They had also worked together as part of the Gates Foundation for many years, with Gates in France announcing her departure from the organization last month. Her last working day was 6/7.
