Princess Kate's Trooping Colour Look took a Toll on her, says Royal author
The Princess of Wales didn't look stunning in Trooping The Colour on Saturday, her first foray into royal life and public affairs since being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. Before Saturday, Kate had not been seen in the royal engagement since Christmas day almost six months ago; she finally detected cancer and underwent a planned abdominal surgery at a London clinic in May, and the fact, bravely, announced to the world on 3/22. She has been receiving treatment since then.
Royal author Katie Nicole has been covering the Royal Family since Kate was married to the family — to reveal that Prince William and Kate were married (and, she added, "could even get an official wedding guest list"), according to her website. So, simply put, Nicole knows Kate. She has studied her extensively. She has reported about her for more than a decade. And as she told Entertainment Tonight, Kate's "immaculate" appearance in Trooping The Colour, in Kate's own words, should remember that she's not yet "out of the woods" and still has months of chemotherapy left.
"The Princess has this kind of swan-like quality about her - she's kind of gliding through the surface, but under the water, I often think she's paddling very desperately," Nicole said. "I can imagine a huge amount of preparation and time and effort and energy going into Saturday's appearance.
Nicole pointed out very correctly that "she was on her feet for a long time" — and on the heels, at that time. "There was a moment when she was watching the parade and was offered a seat, and it was accepted by her with gratitude. It's just a bit of admitting that she's not so strong and fit, as she was before she went into this treatment.
Even throughout her treatment, Nicole said Kate "looked perfect" and added, "You would never have guessed if you didn't know she was undergoing cancer treatment."
But Nicole continued, "I think there's a huge amount of scrutiny on days like Saturday — where she knows the eyes of the world are on her — that "I think she can probably imagine having a long and well-deserved rest later. I don't think you can expect to see her in public for a while. It's going to take some recovery from.”
