Lupita Nyongo Sends Taylor Swift a Personal Letter Asking Her to Use "Shake It Off" in "Little Monsters"

Lupita Nyongo once wrote to Taylor Swift and directly asked her to use her song "Shake It Off" in the 2019 film Little Monsters.

Nyongo, who appeared in First We Feast's Hot Ones series, recalled that when the film's producers told her they could not acquire the rights to her 2014 hit song, she decided to take matters into her own hands.

"I decided, 'Okay, let's go, let's pitch it, let's tell Taylor what this song means to me,' and the next thing I knew I was talking about how this song had brought me out of a state of depression," Nyongo said (via The Hollywood Reporter).

The story of the problem went something like this: "When I was working in London for 'Star Wars,' which was the second thing I did, I had self-doubt. I was a little depressed." My best friend came to London and Taylor had just released 'Shake It Off. He jumped on my bed and danced and danced and danced and lifted my spirits."

The Us actress added, "I haven't actually met her to thank her since" (via People).

It's no secret that Nyongo is an avid Swiffer: before joining the Eras tour last summer, the star shared a TikTok of her and some pals making friendship bracelets to wear that night.

Nyongo is currently promoting her film A Quiet Place: it is a prequel to John Krasinski's horror film series A Quiet Place.
