Emma Roberts, witnessing her aunt Julia Roberts' superstardom, says "Fame was never the goal.

Undoubtedly, actress Emma Roberts is famous, but few reach the level of superstar that her aunt Julia Roberts experienced while Emma was growing up.

Emma was born in 1991, the year after Julia's meteoric rise to star status and newfound fame in 1990's Pretty Woman. In an interview on Bruce Bozzi's "Table for Two" podcast (according to Us Weekly), Emma, after being asked by Bozzi if becoming a "huge movie star" was her goal as an actress, said that her aunt's worldwide fame "really scared" her at times She said.

"With Aunt Julia, I saw up close what it was really like," Emma said. It's fun and it's amazing, but there are some really scary parts."

Emma added that it was never her desire to be a copy of Julia. She added that she "always wanted to make her own way" and that she learned at an early age, through Julia's superstardom, that fame isn't always everything. Emma said, "Fame on some level is kind of scary."

Of her own fame, Julia told CBS Sunday Morning in October 2022, "Acting is my dream come true, but it's not my only dream come true. The life I've built with my husband [Danny Modes] and the life I've built with [my children] [Hazel, Phineas, and Henry] -- at the end of the day, coming home to them, celebrating their triumphs, that's the best thing."

Emma is trying to carve out a similar path and has done so since launching her career in the early 2000s; even in her late teens, she told Bozzi, "I never wanted the fame to outweigh the work."

"There's nothing scarier to me than being so famous that I'm never alone.

Emma also spoke out about nepotism in "Two Tables," specifically complaining that men experience less criticism of nepotism than women. 'I think there are two sides of the coin. 'People say you have an advantage because you have family in this industry. But the flip side of that is you have to prove yourself more. And if people don't have a good experience with the rest of your family, you won't stand a chance." (Well, thankfully, Julia is highly regarded in Hollywood and has long been considered one of America's sweethearts.)

Whether male or female, Emma told Bozzi, "I don't think anyone should be abused because they want to pursue their dreams."
