Emma Roberts on the double standard of the nepo-baby discourse: "Why is no one blaming George Clooney?
Emma Roberts spoke about the nepotistic baby talk.
In a recent appearance on iHeartPodcasts' "Table for Two," Emma explained that being introduced to Hollywood by a family member (in her case, her aunt Julia Roberts) is like a double-edged sword.
"I think there are two sides of the coin."
"People like to say, 'Oh, you have a family in the industry, so you have an advantage,' but on the flip side, it means you have to prove yourself more," the Scream Queens actress said.
She continued, "I joke about it all the time." Why doesn't anyone ever say George Clooney is a nepotistic baby?" And. (Singer and actress Rosemary was George's aunt.)
Emma added, "I feel like young girls are becoming difficult because they are Nepo Babies. Like you don't see so many people calling the sons of famous actors.
The actress also stressed that just because she had connections in the industry did not mean she did not experience a lot of rejection in the process.
For Emma, there was another advantage to having Julia Roberts as an aunt: for Emma, there was another advantage to having Julia Roberts as an aunt.
"With my aunt Julia, I got to see up close what it was really like," Emma said. 'It's fun and it's great, but there's a part of it that's really scary. So I always wanted to make my own way, not by becoming a big movie star, but by doing something that would be creatively fulfilling."
She continued. 'I was very aware that I didn't want to be for fame. When you see fame up close and personal and what it can do to people and their families, sometimes it scares you."
Today, Emma, a lifelong book lover, devotes her time to raising her three-year-old son, Rhodes, and running her online reading community, Belletrist.
