Lily Allen reflects on what she and husband David Harbour don't do in the bedroom
Lily Allen wants to be as transparent as possible about all aspects of her life, which includes giving back the stigma of the often-shamed aspect of sexuality.
She co-hosts the podcast "Miss Me?" with Mikita Oliver.
In response to a listener's question about kink-shaming, she said, "Am I kink-shaming my husband? He often asks me for something and I'm like, 'No, honey. That's not true.'"
She added, "I'm like, 'No, you're not.'
When Oliver mildly accused Allen of being incestuous, she said, "I wouldn't say, 'You piece of shit! How dare you ask me to do that? I just said, 'Well, I have a headache! I have a little headache. Let's not do it tonight.'"
Still, Allen stressed that she strongly believes in "normalizing everything that people are ashamed of in themselves."
And she cited as an example what she called a "very disturbed" phase in her life in which she had sex with a female sex worker after her marriage to ex Sam Cooper broke up.
This is not the first time Allen has made such revelations; she has spoken about them before in her memoir, My Thoughts Exactly.
Explaining why she chose to reveal this intimate detail about herself so publicly, she said she wanted to stay ahead of the tabloids in it. She said, "I wanted to reveal it in my book so I could regain a little bit of power."
Another reason Allen chose to talk about it was that "a lot of other people have done the same thing, and I think people feel better about themselves when they hear someone like me talk about their experiences in a matter-of-fact way, without embarrassment."
She continued, "So I always want to do that. I want to do that with my music.... For me, that's what art is, that's what creativity is, helping people come to terms with their own behavior and the behavior that society looks down upon.
Allen has been married to her husband David Haber since 2020.
