Jennifer Lopez's TV adaptation of Emily Henry's "Happy Place" leaves fans with mixed feelings
Rom-com movie queen Jennifer Lopez is adapting everyone's new favorite rom-com book into a TV drama.
Deadline reported on June 25 that Lopez's production company Nuyorican is adapting Emily Henry's "Happy Place" into a series, and Netflix has optioned the project.
Producer Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, who worked on J.Lo's film Hustlers, wrote on her Instagram Stories, "WE CANNOT WAIT TO WORK WITH @emilyhenrywrites on her brilliant amazing novel #happyplace!!!! Lopez reposted this and said, "Can't wait!" and added a sticker that reads.
Emily Henry is a #BookTok lover, so naturally this announcement was not received in a good mood one way or the other.
"and what does jlo know about happy place? about the emily henry cinematic universe?" one wrote to X.
"JENNIFER LOPEZ GET AWAY FROM MY EMILY HENRY," said another.
Still, after Film Update posted the news, people became more enthusiastic.
"One thing they can never take away is that this woman keeps working," said another.
"It's fantastic! She has produced some great series.
Lopez has produced series such as Good Trouble, Thanks a Million, and Shades of Blue. He has also produced the films "Marry Me," "Atlas," and "Second Act."
But one of the reasons Ms. Lopez feels so well suited for Happy Place is that she knows romantic comedies: let's not forget, she starred in the 2000s classics "Made in Manhattan," "The Wedding Planner," " She starred in "Monster in Law," and I feel that alone is enough of a qualification. I think that alone is enough of a qualification.
