The backstage rendezvous between Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Taylor Swift almost didn't happen.
Princess Charlotte is apparently a "big" Swiftie - that is, a fan of the one and only Taylor Swift, as the uninitiated will tell you - and has been wanting to go to the Eras Tour show for months. Prince William, the Dad of the Year, who celebrated his 42nd birthday that day, took Charlotte and her brother Prince George to not only see the show, but also to meet Swift herself.
"Princess Charlotte is the big Taylor Swift fan in the family," a source told "Entertainment Tonight." 'She's been wanting to go to concerts for months, but with her mother undergoing treatment for cancer, being able to celebrate her dad's birthday like this was a really special occasion.'
Princess Wales, who continues treatment for cancer, stayed home and missed the Elas Tour. She was spending time with Prince Louis, the youngest son of the Welsh family, who also did not attend the show.
"Charlotte loved it [the concert]," said the Prince of Wales. 'They really are great kids. William and Kate are doing a wonderful job raising all three of them."
Swift and boyfriend Travis Kelce (who plays football for the Kansas City Chiefs) had a private meet-and-greet backstage with William, George, and Charlotte, which Swift and the Crown Prince and Princess were each Sources speaking to "Entertainment Tonight" revealed that both Charlotte and George "understand and appreciate how lucky they are to meet someone like Taylor Swift," and recognize their good fortune and that they are grateful for it.
For the occasion, Charlotte, the Royal Family's biggest Swift, wore a rose gold dress known as the "Kids' Sequined Party Dress" from retailer John Lewis. (Charlotte was, as usual, perfectly dressed, with braids and light-up bracelets, but the moment was few and far between, "Hello" reported. William, George, and Charlotte were a little behind schedule, and the Welsh trio joined Swift just 25 minutes before she took the stage, the magazine reported." They had a nightmare to get in." They were really late, but they planned to get there early so they could have a meet-and-greet with Taylor beforehand.
The rendezvous eventually materialized, they said, despite a little "stress and panic" before the three of them headed to the box to see the show.
William tried to keep a low profile at the show and let the kids enjoy the evening, the Daily Express reported." Most of the time he and the kids were further back so as not to draw too much attention, but there were moments when they were in the front row, so there was a lot of shuffling going on," they said, adding, "There was a sweet moment when William and Charlotte were sitting next to each other in the front row.
William's so-called "daddy dance" to Swift's hit "Shake It Off" caused a bit of a stir, but a source close to the crown prince said he didn't mind because he was "focused on his wife and children right now." He just wanted to make it a special night for Prince George and Princess Charlotte." (17]
According to The Sun, royal expert Phil Dampier said that William's "daddy dance" shows that he is "relaxed" and "very happy" after the dark days of 2024, when both his wife, Princess Wales, and his father, King Charles, were declared cancer He said he is "very happy". 'It was wonderful to see Prince William enjoying himself at Wembley the other day. 'I was struck by how relaxed he was and how much fun he was having. He obviously didn't mind that he was being filmed. Everyone has a cell phone these days and they were filming him. The fact that he was so relaxed and so happy means that he must be very happy that Kate is on the road to recovery". [He said of Kate, "Obviously, we saw her in Trooping the Colour. It was a great sign, and the fact that he can leave her at home and go out and have fun with the kids shows that he is very happy with her progress," he added.
In addition to the Welsh children, William's cousin and Princess Anne's daughter, Zara Tindall, was in the crowd of 90,000 with her husband Mike and their two daughters, Mia and Lena. William, George, and Charlotte left the show early, leaving 10 minutes before the end "to hide from the eager Swiffies," the Sun reported.
"They left about 10 minutes before the end to avoid crowding," the official said. 'Their box was buzzing. Everyone was having a wonderful time for Prince William's birthday."
On The Sun's "Royal Exclusive," royal expert Emily Nash said, "Earlier this year, we were seeing William probably once a week, and there were lots of reminders about how long he would be at the engagement and what time. I felt like things were being done to accommodate his work at home." And I think the fact that he's getting out more and we're seeing what Kate herself is doing suggests that they're making really good progress.
Swift has finished the first of her Wembley Stadium and London shows, but will return in August for five shows on the 15th, 16th, 17th, 19th, and 20th; in two months, Kate and Louis may join her; and in the next few months, Swift will be joined by Kate and Louis, who are both playing at the Wembley Stadium in London.
