Prince William has been a "constant source of strength" as Princess Kate continues her cancer treatments, and Kate "gives him the reassurance, love, and friendship he needs."
Growing up, Prince William and Prince Harry were always thought of as the closest of best friends. After all, they were brothers, and no one could fully understand life in the royal kamaboko as William understood Harry and Harry understood William. But time and distance (both emotionally and geographically) kept the brothers apart. Royal biographer Ingrid Sward says that after William severed ties with his brother, she "gives her husband a sense of security, affection, and friendship."
"William is sensitive, likes structure, and has patience," says Sward, who writes many royal biographies and is editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine. He doesn't give up easily,
but when it comes to his brother, "his relationship with [his brother] Harry upset him more than he'd like to admit," Sward says. But he found it easier to break off the relationship than to continue to irritate himself."
She added that "living with Kate has given him the security, love, and friendship he needs."
Royal correspondent Charles Rae said that William is more focused on Kate and his father King Charles' respective cancer battles than on reconciliation with Harry: "There is too much water that has flowed under that bridge," he said of a possible reconciliation. After all Harry and Meghan have done so far, including the Oprah Winfrey interview and the Netflix show "Spare," ...... If they do take action, I don't know if William and Catherine will react favorably."
Rae added, "William has a lot more on his mind right now than fixing his troubles with his own brother. He has to take care of his wife and three children."
As for Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, "William and Kate are in their element when they are together as a family," says a source who spoke to Us Weekly. The children bring them even closer together," said a source to Us Weekly.
While Kate's cancer treatments continue, "William has been very hands-on lately, taking the lead on family activities and routines," they said, noting that William enjoys reading bedtime stories to the children and playing sports with them. Kate loves to see him in these roles, and it strengthens their bond."
[14They have been a couple for more than half of their lives since meeting as college students at the University of St. Andrews in the early 1980s, but Kate's health scare has brought them closer together, and Us Weekly reported, "They also spend quality time as a couple carving out time together," and reports that the Crown Prince and Princess "are making date nights a priority, even if it's just a quiet night at home."
According to the magazine's sources, "They are each other's sounding board and emotional support," adding that their love has only deepened in recent months." William is a constant source of strength."
