Macy Gray Says Britney Spears Once Rode a Skateboard into a Recording Session
Macy Gray has been a big fan of Britney Spears for years, but a friendship never developed between the two.
Appearing on the Australian talk show "The Project" before a concert in Hobart, Tasmania, Gray revealed that she listens to Spears' music, especially her album "Blackout," to get herself pumped up before shows.
Since this is a well-known fact about Gray, the moderators asked her if she had ever met the "Toxic" singer.
"I was in the same studio once, and she came into my session on a skateboard. Literally."
"She was in the room across the hall and we looked up and all of a sudden she came into our room on a skateboard. Then we talked a little bit, but we didn't really hit it off."
She went on to explain why the meeting turned a bit awkward.
"I'm still a groupie. I was sitting there with Britney Spears and I kind of stuttered. I didn't know what to say." She rolled her eyes. Whatever I said, she got kind of annoyed with it and walked out."
[14Gray then said, "She rolled her eyes and she rolled out!"
Gray quipped.
Gray called Blackout "the greatest album ever" and cited "Radar" as her favorite song. She said that listening to the record was like a cup of coffee for her, giving her the "go!" she needed before a show. and said it gives her the energy to "go!
Gray is touring Australia through July 13, with shows in Cary, North Carolina on August 30 and Florence, Kentucky on August 31. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster or Stubhub.
