Niecy Nash-Betz "pleasantly surprised" by the acting ability of her "Grotesque" co-star Travis Kells.
Co-star Niecy Nash-Betz was "pleasantly surprised" by the acting skills of Travis Kelce, who is making his acting debut in Ryan Murphy's horror series "Grotesquerie," Us Weekly reported.
"He's doing really well," said Nash-Betts, who, in addition to acting, is a Kansas City Chiefs tight end, defending Super Bowl champion, Swiffy exclusive player, podcast co-host (with brother Jason Kelsey (along with) Kelsey, who is also a future game show host, told Entertainment Tonight.
Nash-Betz said she works with Kelsey on set and helps him rehearse his lines. The veteran actress said it is usually "us sitting around eating In-N-Out and reading words from a paper."
When asked about Kels and his girlfriend Taylor Swift, whom he has been dating for nearly a year (Kels has followed her around to several European shows as her Eras tour continues), Nash-Betz spluttered: "Well, right now, I don't listen or talk. She said, "I'm not going to.
It was actually Nash-Betz who first revealed that Kels would be appearing with her on the FX series. In an Instagram video, Nash-Betz said, "Guys, guess who I'm working with on 'Grotesquerie,'" and when the two started laughing, Kelsey said, "I'm jumping into new territory with Niecy." Kelsey then shared the post on her Instagram Story, writing, "Steppin into a new world with one of the legends." and tagging Nash-Betts.
Kelce later discussed his acting debut on his podcast New Heights, telling his brother that the experience was "a lot of fun" and praising Murphy as "an incredible writer, director, producer, all of that." Kelsey said of Murphy, "He seemed confident that I could do the job. So hopefully I don't bomb this for him," he said."
A source told Us Weekly that Murphy's decision to cast Kelce was "pretty spur-of-the-moment," while another source added that his casting was a "surprise" for the NFL star. 'Travis had a lot of fun filming. 'He had fun doing it.'
It's not Kelce's only new venture: back in March, he rebooted the classic game show "Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity.", Amazon Prime Video's new game show "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader." announced as host. "I grew up loving game shows, so to follow in the footsteps of so many television icons by hosting my very first one on Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity. I'm excited to be a part of it. 'The original show has been a huge success, so it will definitely be fun to bring it to the screen in a new format with some of everyone's favorite celebrities. I'm happy to be on the hosting side of this show and look forward to seeing what these celebrities will continue to do."
[16As for the grotesquerie, Betts warned that the show is "very dark." I am very excited for everyone to see it." He added, "There may be cameos. I won't mention names. But it's fun times."
Kelce's unexpected casting was discussed by the man himself in a June 6 Good Morning America interview, and as for whether Kelce considers himself an actor, "I guess you could say so," Kelce replied (from People). 'I've been on a couple of shows before. I've only played myself on those shows."
He continued, "It's definitely different playing a character, trying to find the emotion in everything, understanding the script and the scenes," adding, "It's a challenge. I feel like an amateur right now, but I can coach," he said, citing his NFL career. 'What I've found in sports is that I'm a coachable guy,' he said. "
A source who spoke to Entertainment Tonight added that this transition to acting would only be the beginning: "Travis is excited to put these skills to work and show another side of himself off the field."
"There will be more projects like this to come.
Kells traveled around Europe, met his girlfriend Swift, whom he has been dating for nearly a year, on tour, and took the stage together in London. They loved being on stage together," a source told People. 'He was confident, fun, and one of the highlights of her tour.'
Kelsey is set to return to more familiar territory and is scheduled to report to Chiefs training camp on July 21 before kicking off the NFL season on September 5 when the Chiefs face the Baltimore Ravens. 'Football is definitely his top priority, but so are his relationships. 'He makes romantic gestures to show he's thinking about her, even when he's away. She tries to attend as many games as she can."
"She is a very good friend.
About the couple, the source added, "They have a lot of fun together and get along well." At first everyone wondered what they had in common, but then they realized how similar they are: they both wear their hearts on their sleeves and give their all to everything they do: career, family, and friends."
At the one-year mark, "They are really very happy together. They are very serious about each other and feel the relationship is different for both of them."
