Louis Tomlinson Brings TV to Glastonbury Festival organizers refuse to show England soccer match

Louis Tomlinson, formerly of One Direction, made many new friends when he brought a television set to the Glastonbury Festival to show the latest England Euro soccer match.

Festival organizers had told the audience that they would not be showing the England-Slovakia match.

On the day of the game, Tomlinson left the festival grounds to buy a flat-screen TV and a generator, and decided to create a makeshift sports screening area with wifi.

Initially set up in the festival's hospitality area, he was later forced to move it to the main festival area due to poor reception.

When the game went into extra time with an England goal, Tomlinson told The Guardian, "This is the second screen I've bought. The first screen cracked. But I'm happy to do it, because we've tied the game."

England eventually won 2-1, and Tomlinson told BBC News exactly how he pulled off the stunt. 'We brought in a TV,' he said. I had a rock and a little stand, just like Glasto. It was a bit of a challenge because the signal was in and out a lot. But luckily we won. We did it.

The main reason the festival did not screen the match officially was because it happened during Avril Lavigne's set. Therefore, festival audiences had to prioritize.

"I'm trying to enjoy the show with one headphone on while listening to the commentary," 30-year-old Sam Neave told The Guardian.

"The match is the priority, but my group wanted to see Avril, so we're compromising."

As for Tomlinson, he recently performed at the Pinkpop Music Festival in the Netherlands and is set to perform at Lollapalooza in Berlin in September.
