Simone Biles Calls Paris Olympics "Our Redemption Tour" After Becoming Official Member
Simone Biles is ready to give her best at the Paris Olympics.
After it became official that Biles would be competing in the Team U.S.A. gymnastics event at this year's Games, the athlete expressed how excited she and her teammates are for the event.
"This is definitely our redemption tour," Biles told reporters on June 30 (via People)." I feel like we all have more to give."
The gymnast's selection to Paris comes after the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, where she was forced to withdraw from the competition mid-competition to protect her mental health.
"I feel like a weight has been lifted off our shoulders to go out and prove that we are better athletes," Biles said on Sunday (via Le Monde). 'We are more mature, smarter, more stable.' (She is probably referring to the incredibly well-deserved and monstrous celebration that she and her teammates will no doubt engage in later.)
Biles absolutely shined at last week's Olympic Trials, and one of her routines went viral enough that even Taylor Swift had to weigh in (Biles is now performing her song ". .Ready for It?")
According to People, the legendary gymnast made history by becoming only the fourth female gymnast in history to make Team U.S.A. for three Olympic Games by participating in the Paris Games.
Biles will compete alongside Tokyo Olympic teammates Suni Lee, Jade Carey, Jordan Childs, and first-time competitor Hesley Rivera, who is only 16 years old.
The opening ceremony for the Paris Olympics will take place on July 26, and the closing ceremony on August 11.
