Meg Ryan's son, Jack Quaid, responds to his mother's defense of his "Nepo Baby" status.
Jack Quaid, son of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid, is by definition a nepotistic baby.
So after speaking in an earlier interview about his mother not loving that label for him, Jack was asked about it in his own interview with The Daily Beast.
"My first thought was that she's a mother. 'She's a loving mother. But I don't think she's trying to say I'm not a nepotistic baby."
"I think she's just trying to say that in her opinion, my talents are impaired. I don't think my talent is impaired. I work very hard and I get "no" far more often than I get "yes." [But I also know that it's crazy hard to jump into this industry, and I've had an easier time of it than most people. Both are true. So I don't think she was trying to say that I'm not a fortunate person. She knows. She must know. I think she's a mother." [When Harry Met Sally] actress told Glamour magazine in November, "Jack is really talented. He's more natural than I am. That nepotistic stuff negates his work ethic, his talent, and how sensitive he is to the idea of privilege."
Ryan regularly shouts about Jack's projects on social networking sites, for example, he has posted a movie poster for "Plus One" with the caption "JUST KILLING IT.... I'm so proud!"
Outside of that rom-com, Jack is best known for his appearance in the drama series The Boys.
Meanwhile, Jack is one of many Nisei celebrities who have spoken out about what being a "Nepo Baby" means to them.
More recently, Emma Roberts made headlines when she pointed out the double standard in the field, with young women bearing the brunt of accusations of nepotism.
Others, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Maya Hawke, Dakota Johnson, and Kaia Gerber, have spoken out about their feelings about this label.
