Jonathan Owens responds to backlash over "The Catch" comment he received for marrying Simone Biles.

Jonathan Owens shared his reaction to the backlash he received for speaking out about his marriage to Simone Biles last year.

"I didn't know for a while because I have all my social media notifications turned off," Owens told Us Weekly. 'So I let them read the comments and everything. But if I feel like they're out of hand, that's when I reach out and say something."

[4 [I don't mean to be abusive, but damned if you do and damned if you don't. If you say something, they will say something; if you don't say something, they will say something. So just live your life. People will talk about you anyway, so you might as well do what you want."

In December, Owens, a football safety for the Chicago Bears, said in an interview that he felt he was a "catch" in his marriage to Biles, who literally has the most gymnastics records in history. Yeah, I know, the math doesn't add up.

Anyway, as one might expect, people were not pleased with Owens' comments, and criticized him widely on social media afterward.

Appearing on "Call Her Daddy" in April, Biles said he had no idea his comments would resonate that way with people and was incredibly hurt. 'Why do you people talk about my husband like this? 'If you've ever met him, you know he's the sweetest guy and would do anything for anyone.'

Biles recently qualified for this year's Paris Olympics, and Owens has shared his unwavering support for his wife on social media. 'It sounds so surreal to be able to say my wife is the greatest athlete of all time. Oh.
