Cara Delevingne recalls getting drunk at age 8.

Cara Delevingne opened up about her sobriety in a candid interview with The Sunday Times.

Reporter Vassi Chamberlain recalled meeting a young Delevigne at her aunt's wedding in 2001, and when she told the model about it, she replied, "I was eight years old. I was eight years old, which was a crazy age to get drunk."

Throughout the interview, Delevigne detailed her journey to sobriety, explaining that the catalyst for her recovery was a photo that appeared online in 2022, showing her walking straight out of Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles from Burning Man on her way to work in London.

"It was a stupid decision to go straight from the festival to work; I should have waited a day," the model told The Times.

"But this was going to happen anyway, so there were plenty of pictures of me worn out."

Delevigne said she registered for rehab immediately after the incident.

In an interview, she also explained that substances were one way she tried to cope with being famous. She said, "I thought drugs and alcohol would help me cope, but ...... they weren't, they were making me sad and very depressed," she said. 'I feel like I have my power back and I don't let other things control me anymore.'

The supermodel doesn't stop going out because she doesn't drink anymore, just the way she shows up to events has changed. She says, "I like to be around people who are drinking. In the last two years, I've been to more than I ever have: Glastonbury, Burning Man, Coachella."

This is not the first time Delevigne has discussed her sobriety in an interview: last July, she told Elle U.K., "It [was] not easy. But I never once thought, "This is not worth it." Every second is worth it. I just don't know what it takes to give it up. I am stable. I'm calm."

The Paper Towns actress told the Times upon releasing an alcohol-free Prosecco as part of Della Vite, the brand she shares with sisters Chloe and Poppy Delevigne.

She is currently busy playing Sally Bowles in the West End production of Cabaret. It's wonderful.
