Prince William and Princess Kate have made a joint decision to “consciously focus on positivity and recovery” with regard to Prince Harry.
There was once a time, believe it or not, when Prince William, Prince Harry, and Kate Middleton were inseparable. Then the siblings fell out, and Harry's bombshell memoir, Spare, details the fallout.
This year has been a difficult one for William and Kate, as evidenced by another stunning appearance at Wimbledon on Sunday by Kate, according to the Mirror, where William and Kate reportedly made a “conscious” agreement about Harry.
According to the paper, William and Kate decided not to meet Harry when he visited the UK in May. A source told the magazine, “William and Kate are very consciously focused on positivity and recovery,” which is why they decided not to meet Harry when he visited two months ago. Charles also flew to London to see his father shortly after learning of Harry's cancer diagnosis in February, but did not get a chance to meet his second son when he was in the UK.
The Mirror reported that William and Kate's decision in May came after William “made the difficult decision to cut ties with his younger siblings completely.”
“William is sensitive,” says royal biographer Ingrid Sward. 'He likes structure and has patience. He doesn't give up easily. His relationship with [his brother] Harry upsets him more than he would like to admit. But he has found it easier to break off the relationship than to continue to frustrate himself."
[10According to The Sun, William is “fiercely protective” of Kate. Former BBC royal correspondent Jenny Bond said that the Crown Prince is “stubborn” when it comes to family matters and caring for his wife, and that “William has never been more protective of his wife and children than he is now.”
As for hopes of reconciliation between William and Harry (and Kate), former royal butler Paul Burrell (who worked for the royal family for 21 years and was perhaps most closely associated with William and Harry's mother Diana) said of William and Kate's home in Windsor, ” The door to Adelaide Cottage is closed. William knows that Harry cannot be trusted and does not want to upset the family any further.”
