Rose McGowan paid a stunning tribute to the life of Shannen Doherty following her tragic death at age 53. 1]

Writing about her late “Charmed” co-star on Instagram along with a montage of photos, McGowan said, “Shannen Doherty had a heart like a lion. [This woman] fought to live. Shannen had been a star since childhood, so she knew how to be a star. Her work ethic was inspiring to the end.”

Of their friendship, McGowan wrote. 'We laughed off the dark forces that wanted us to hate each other and chose love and respect instead. A badass with a good heart like never before. A force of energy that will live forever in our hearts.

“May the angels and God carry her to the holy kingdom, where she will forever be healthy, young and wild. Rest in peace, warrior, we will never forget you."

McGowan responded to the many memorial comments she received, calling Doherty ‘our big sister,’

among others, and shared, ”I can't stop crying.”

Doherty, an actress on Beverly Hills 90210, unfortunately passed away on Saturday after a long battle with cancer.

Publicist Leslie Sloan told Us Weekly on Sunday, “We confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty and extend our sincerest condolences...On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after a long battle with the disease.”

The actress was a member of the Beverly Hills 90210 cast.

The statement continued. “A devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, she was surrounded by loved ones as well as her dog Bowie. The family asks for privacy now so that they can grieve in peace."

She continued.

McGowan and Doherty did not overlap in the “Charmed” series, with the former (Paige Halliwell) replacing the latter (Prue Halliwell) as the third witch along with Alyssa Milano (Phoebe Halliwell) and Holly Marie Combs (Piper Halliwell) She played the sisters.

Milano also paid tribute to Doherty in a statement to Us Weekly. It's no secret that Shannen and I had a complicated relationship, but at its core she was someone I deeply admired and was in awe of. 'She was a gifted actress, loved by many, and the world is less without her. My condolences go out to all who loved her.”

Doherty's 90210 co-star Tori Spelling shared a photo of the two on her Instagram Stories, with a string of heartbroken emojis and “I still don't have the words... We knew and that's what matters."

Fellow 90210 actor Jason Priestley wrote on Instagram, ”Shocked and saddened to hear the news of my friend Shannen's passing. She was a force of nature. Sending love and light to her family during this dark time.”

Gabriel Carteris added, “So young and so sad. We pray for Shannen's soul. We know that Luke loves you with open arms. Karteris was referring to Luke Perry, who sadly passed away in 2019.

Jenny Garth wrote a lengthy tribute to Doherty that began, “I am still processing my tremendous grief over the loss of Shannen, a woman I have often described as my longtime friend and one of the strongest people I have ever known.”

She concluded, “My heart breaks for her family, for Bowie, and for all who loved her.”

Elsewhere, Olivia Munn also mourned Doherty on Instagram, detailing her “immediate” bond with the actress as she shared her breast cancer diagnosis. She wrote, “Fly high, my friend.”
