Kaia Gerber gives supermodel endorsement to Nike's new sneakers

Before Kaia Gerber became the founder of a book club, she was a sneaker enthusiast. She was one of the first to wear shoes before the Adidas Samba and Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 became trendy sneakers. But after wearing a fair share, this model now (re)introduces a new sneaker silhouette to watch: the Nike V2K Runner.

Garber took her latest shoe find to the gym on Tuesday, July 23, while in Los Angeles. She was photographed in a pair of Nike V2K Run shoes in a metallic gray colorway with chunky black and white soles. She paired the $120 shoes with white ankle-length crew socks.

Gerber's other outfits exuded the energy of a Pilates princess. She wore a heather gray cropped jacket zipped up to conceal a sports bra and black athletic leggings.

For her walk to the gym, she did not wear many of her usual accessories, including over-the-ear headphones. Instead, the 22-year-old opted for a pair of large black sunglasses and a cream-colored canvas tote bag.

This is not Gerber's first time wearing vintage-inspired shoes. She has incorporated the shoes into her off-duty outfits several times over the past few months. In fact, Gerber hasn't worn the Nike V2K since April, when she paired them with a navy overcoat and leggings. She joins the list of celebrities who have embraced the old-school dad sneaker trend this year: many, including Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Lawrence, are hoping for a resurgence.

But overall, Nike sneakers are gaining a lot of traction in Kaia Gerber's wardrobe rotation. Earlier sightings have her replacing her V2Ks with the brand's Free Metcon 4s. The Bottoms actress has taken black and white kicks with her on casual walks in Los Angeles and afternoon smoothie runs in New York City.

Just because Kaia Gerber has swapped her summer outfit staple of ballet flats and dresses for sweats and sneakers doesn't mean she's dressed any less luxuriously. Wearing Free Metcon sneakers, Gerber's latest co-ord is a $1,050 cashmere tank top from The Row and softer Alo Yoga sweatpants. She has also dabbled in high-end collaborations, including one with Nike and independent brand Bode.

So maybe we should rephrase: Kaia Gerber has approved three new Nike sneakers.
