Kendall Jenner Says It's Like Being Hannah Montana Without the "Disguise"
Kendall Jenner opened up about what life was like in the spotlight as a child star on a reality show.
In a recent interview with Emma Chamberlain for the latest episode of the "Anything Goes" podcast, the famous member of the Kardashian/Jenner clan described appearing on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" as a child as a fictional television and film character Hannah Montana, comparing her life to that of the fictional Hannah Montana.
"In a way, it's a little Hannah Montana-ish," Jenner explained. 'But I didn't wear a disguise, I didn't have any physical changes.'
For those who don't know, Hannah Montana was the alter ego of Miley Stewart (played by Miley Cyrus), who led a double life as a famous pop star.
"We went to school. I went to school as much as I could," Jenner explained. "We started homeschooling, and then we went to 11th and 12th grade. ...... So even though we had a TV show at home, we went to regular school all day and had friends from before the show started."
Kendall added that appearing on a reality show that followed her family's life "wasn't always easy, but it felt kind of normal."
"I think we lived as normal a life as we possibly could, and I'm very grateful for that," she added.
In the same interview, Jenner talked about what life as a model is like now, including the less glamorous side, which often includes lonely nights away from home and family.
"I'm not going to sit here and say I've had the toughest journey. I think I've been extremely fortunate. But I was overworked, I didn't get the job I really wanted to get, and I had my own challenges."
"I'm not going to say that I've been the most fortunate," she said.
"I wasn't home for three months and I was alone almost the whole time, so I had really dark nights in random cities just crying myself to sleep hysterically," she added.
Jenner's first television appearance came when she was only 10 years old.
Still, she said that despite having done "very adult things at a really young age," the model is grateful for the whole experience, which sadly included having to learn how to deal with the never-ending onslaught of "hate on the Internet."
"Overall, I'm really grateful because I think it could have been so much worse," she said.
