Taylor Swift Honors Simone Biles, Charli Richardson, and Katie Ledecky at the Paris Summer Olympics
Taylor Swift paid tribute to three American athletes who represent this year's 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.
On Saturday, August 3, the singer narrated a new promotional video for the NBC Olympics that spotlights three of this year's Summer Olympics stars: Simone Biles, Charli Richardson, and Katie Ledecky.
The video begins with the inimitable Coco Chanel's words: "Every day is a fashion show, the world is your runway."
Meanwhile, Swift's hit song "Style" plays in the background.
"Never be afraid to show who you are, especially when the whole world is watching," Swift is heard saying, as images of Biles, Richardson, and Ledecky competing in the current competition play on the screen.
"Because there's no way to be the best," Swift continues." There is no way to inspire those who will one day follow."
Swift continues her narration as clips play of the three athletes competing, interacting with fans, and finding time for themselves amidst the chaos of the Olympics.
"You do what you love. You do what you love. Believe in your style, whatever that is."
"Katie. Shakary. And Simone. Three American stars. three different visions of greatness. Tonight, in Paris.
You guys, it's chilling. Creepy!
All three Olympians won medals at this year's Olympics. Biles won three gold medals, becoming the oldest gymnast to win a gold medal (at only 27 years old) and the most medal-winning American gymnast of all time. GOAT status.
Ledecky won her ninth gold medal, making her the most decorated female Olympian from the United States. Because of her ability, she also became the first woman in history to win four individual Olympic titles (only the second woman in history to do so in swimming, after Michael Phelps).
Richardson also solidified her Olympic comeback with a silver medal in the 100 meters in a losing effort.
The three Olympians have not only achieved success on the world's biggest stage, but have also established themselves as role models to inspire the next generation of athletes.
Biles has normalized and de-stigmatized mental health care and has been candid about how she has incorporated regular therapy sessions into her Olympic routine.
"I feel more free, especially going to therapy and having sessions, because it helps me physically and mentally, and I know it's an important part of my routine," she told TODAY co-anchor Hoda Kotb in her podcast " Making Space with Hoda Kotb'." So just stay on top of it, it lightens the load a lot."[31
And Richardson epitomizes true resilience, climbing back onto the Olympic stage after not being selected for Team USA's 4x100 relay team, serving a one-month suspension after the 2021 Olympic trials, and dealing with the death of her own mother.
Richardson won two gold medals at the World Athletics Championships in August 2023 and at the Miramar Invitational after running the fourth-fastest women's 1000 time in history.
