Prince William 'Worried' About Meghan Markle Wearing Princess Diana's Jewelry at Royal Wedding
Rumors have long swirled that Prince William is not a fan of Meghan Markle, despite being married to her brother. Now a new biography suggests that William tried to stop himself from wearing Princess Diana's jewelry at his wedding to Prince Harry.
New "Catherine, The Princess of Wales: The Biography": In his new book, "Catherine, The Princess of Wales: The Biography," published in serial form by the Daily Mail, royal expert Robert Jobson claims that William tried to stop his mother's jewelry collection He claims that William tried to drag his feet about his mother's jewelry collection. Jobson writes, "Still concerned about the [romantic] marriage, he is heard to have sought assurances from the Queen that Harry's bride would not wear any of Princess Diana's jewelry, even though his own wife was allowed to wear her own."
Meghan and Harry tied the knot on May 19, 2018, in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. Luckily, the beautiful wedding was not spoiled by any possible behind-the-scenes drama. However, according to reports, Meghan wanted to wear the Spencer tiara that Princess Diana wore at her nuptials. Queen Elizabeth reportedly refused the request and lent Meghan her diamond bandeau tiara instead.
Although the Duchess of Sussex did not wear her late mother-in-law's jewelry at the ceremony, she paid her respects to Princess Diana at the reception. Princess Meghan was photographed wearing Princess Diana's eye-catching aquamarine ring as she moved to Frogmore House after the ceremony. Since then, she has re-worn Princess Diana's aquamarine ring several times, suggesting that the ring is the Duchess of Sussex's favorite.
Unfortunately, the tension between Prince William and Prince Harry seemed to only escalate after the royal wedding." Despite sharp prods and thin skin on both sides, the May 2018 wedding in Windsor was a spectacular success," Jobson writes.
"In public, the Royal Family was all smiles, but in private, they were being daggered."
In his new book, Jobson also explores how the Royal Family rift developed after Harry began dating the former Suits actor. And according to royal experts, it was Princess Meghan who first emphasized that Harry was allegedly being treated very differently from his brother.
"I wouldn't say Meghan was jealous, but she was surprised at how luxurious Harry's brother's life was compared to where they lived," one source told Jobson. 'That may have been the beginning of the tension between the couple.'
