Adele Suspends Munich Concert to Celebrate Shakari Richardson's Paris Olympics Win
Adele may be British, but she has shown clear allegiance to Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
On August 3, Adele was performing at the Messe München in Munich when she paused the show for a very important reason. Excited about the women's 100m final, Adele told the audience (from Us Weekly), "I'm so excited." I want Shacharie Richardson to win.
The audience at Adele's concert watched the race on a large screen at the venue, which must have been an amazing and exhilarating moment for the crowd. Richardson finished second in the race, earning the silver medal for the U.S. team. Meanwhile, Julian Alfred of St. Lucia came in first and won the gold medal.
Adele also took the opportunity to express her admiration for Team USA Olympian Simone Biles, who won one silver and three gold medals in Paris. The "Hello" singer also mentioned the gymnast's Netflix documentary "Simone Biles Rising" She also mentioned that she thought it was "really great." She continued, "It proves that taking care of and taking care of your mental health can make you stronger, not weaker." Adele also said that she is "very, very proud" of Biles.
Adele's fans will be hoping for a follow-up to the Oscar winner's 2021 album, 30. However, "Someone Like You" is in no rush to release new music just yet. In an interview with German broadcaster ZDF, Adele said she intends to step back from her music career after her latest performance.
"I have no plans for new music at all," she told ZDF (via The Hollywood Reporter)." I want a big break after this, and I'd like to do something else creative for a little while." She continued. I don't sing at home at all. How strange is that? After a busy schedule of concerts in Las Vegas and before moving her concerts to Munich, Germany, Adele is probably exhausted and deserves some serious rest and relaxation.
