Simone Biles Closes Impressive Paris Olympics with Silver Medal Win
Simone Biles' performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics can only be described as phenomenal.
The iconic gymnast ended her time at the Olympics with a silver medal in the floor division of the women's gymnastics competition. Brazilian gymnast Rebecca Andrade won the gold medal, and Jordan Childs of the U.S. team took the bronze, with the BBC reporting that Biles missed out on the win by "some messy landings," scoring 14.133 points, .033 points lower than Andrade ...
Although he missed out on a fourth gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Biles left the competition with his spectacular feat. In fact, by winning the Paris Olympics, Biles earned a shocking honor. Biles now holds more Olympic medals than any other American gymnast, a tremendous feat.
Paving the way for American excellence in the Olympics, Biles has stood up for other athletes on numerous occasions. Already a multiple medalist, Biles revealed that after his Olympic triumphs, he was fed up with being asked, "What's next?"
Biles wrote to X, "You guys really need to stop asking athletes what's next after winning a medal at the Olympics." She continued, " Let's soak in the moments we've been working on our entire lives." Biles also asked a fan, "What's next after winning a gold medal?" She also answered a fan's question, "What is the next step? to which the fan replied with a perfect response, "A medal charm."
At the 2024 Paris Olympics alone, Biles won gold medals in the women's gymnastics individual vault final, the individual all-around, and the women's artistic team all-around with teammates Suni Lee, Jordan Childs, Jade Carey, and Hesley Rivera. Biles, who also won a silver medal in the floor division, had a great showing for the U.S. team.
While the majority of Biles' experience at the Paris Olympics appears to have been positive, she noted some major problems with the Olympic Village; in the "Get Ready With me" TikTok video shared on August 2, Biles said that because of her growing anxiety and revealed that she had avoided spending time in the Olympic Village. "The first day I got here, I went to the cafeteria and a bunch of people were nonstop asking me to take their pictures," he said. And every time I sat down to eat, my anxiety got so bad I was shaking." However, the gymnast also noted that she had therapy that morning to ease her nerves before the competition.
