Christina Aguilera Says She Doesn't “Deal With” Body Criticism After Ozenpick Rumors
Singer and actress Christina Aguilera has some sharp words for those who criticize her body amidst the ongoing rumors of her Ozempic use.
In a recent interview with Glamour magazine, the pop star opened up about the ongoing scrutiny she is facing regarding her appearance, especially after recently losing weight, especially with the popularity of Ozempic use for weight loss in Hollywood and the entertainment industry.
“I'm going through a maturity phase right now where your opinion doesn't matter. I'm not going to take it,” Aguilera told the publication. 'It must be my responsibility to take my place. Other people's opinions don't matter to me."
While the use of Ozenpick for weight loss has become popular, as Rolling Stone magazine reported, there is also shame involved in openly admitting to using diabetes medications for appetite suppression and weight loss purposes.
As reported by HuffPost, social media users began to openly accuse (or at least assume) that Aguilera was using Ozempic to lose weight.
The singer told the magazine that when she was young and just starting out in the entertainment business, her self-esteem depended on the opinions of others.
She added that her confidence “took a hit” after her body was deemed “unacceptable” as curves began to form later in life.
“When you are a teenager,” she explained, “you have a very different body than you did in your 20s. I started getting fuller and that was unacceptable because it was like, 'Oh, she's getting thicker.' Then I started having people in the industry say, 'They loved your body and you as a skinny teenager'”
.
Having lived a good portion of her adult life in the spotlight and under scrutiny from both the media and the public, Aguilera hopes that her two young children will learn to ignore the opinions of others, especially the (often very loud) negative comments told Glamour magazine.
“Children cause things in you that you don't want them to experience,” she added. 'And it's almost like you're reliving this whole thing again. I saw a lot of that in my childhood. I just want what's best for my children.”
Aguilera is the proud mom of two children, Max, born to her ex-husband Jordan Bratman, and Summer, born to her fiancé Matt Rattler.
In one 2021 interview with Health, she said she felt “very insecure” about her body until it “started to bulge a little” as she got older.
“I think we all have good days and bad days about how we feel about ourselves,” she told the magazine at the time.
“When I started in the industry, I hated being so skinny; once I turned 21, I started to feel a little fuller and I liked my new curves.”
“I appreciated having boots on the ground. I've always said that women are more interesting to look at than men!” She added. 'It's hard for me to look at those early pictures of myself.'
