Meghan Markle adopts classic blazer and button-up attire for Columbia tour school visit
Meghan Markle's Colombia Tour, Day 2 of Colombia Fashion Week. Yesterday, the Duchess of Sussex kicked off her journey through Bogota, Cartagena, and Cali with Prince Harry. So far, her trip has been a parade of fashion moments and modernized versions of classic costume formulas, with the Duchess wearing not one, but three different outfits in one day.
Naturally, the second day started off in style as well. But before we dive into her latest looks, including sentimental butterfly earrings from Princess Diana's own collection, let's take a quick look back for the girls. The first stop on the tour was a tee time with Vice President Francia Marquez. For the occasion, Markle wore a sophisticated navy blue tailored vest set by Veronica Beard (which, FYI, is still available for purchase).
From there, Markle switched to a more daring look (by royal standards), debuting a brocade cut-out dress by Johanna Ortiz. And for the third look, she finished with a spiced pumpkin-colored corset.
Then came Day 2. Princess Meghan and Prince Harry began the festivities with a visit to their charter school, Colegio La Giralda. The couple, along with the students, participated in several activities, including a visit to the school's urban garden, traditional Colombian music and dance performances, and puzzle time. Princess Meghan also practiced speaking Spanish with the students.
Meghan Markle toured the school in a very cool teacher outfit, a linen blazer and white button-up shirt. The outermost layer is from Loro Piana, and she has been wearing milky white nail polish and leather bags a lot lately, including on the first day of the tour.
The rest of her look maintained a scholarly-chic energy with tapered black pants and cap-toe Chanel flats. (Exact credit for her top and pants, styled by Jamie Mizrahi, was still being withheld at press time.) Markle matched her down-to-earth outfit with a low, side-parted bun and minimal makeup. She also wore a gold Cartier “Tank” watch, the same watch that Princess Diana used to wear. On Markle's ears shone the butterfly earrings that Princess Diana loved to wear.
Prince Harry also took note of the collegiate style, wearing a blue button-down shirt and green pants.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry smiled and hugged students and talked with them in classrooms and around the grounds. Education is a major focus of their trip: the day before, the two met with students at another charter school in Bogota. Markle said the students were “impressive, smart, and savvy.”
Princess Meghan's latest low-key look picks up on what her best outfits have in common: It is composed of wardrobe classics from past generations while still feeling fresh. It is also the first outfit royal fans have seen from the second day of the tour, meaning another is just around the corner.
