Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Meet “Smart and Savvy” Students on Royal Tour of Colombia

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle began their royal tour of Colombia on Thursday. Royal fans were delighted to see Meghan in a chic tailored vest and matching pants by Veronica Beard. The Duchess of Sussex also paired her milky white manicure with a $4,700 Loro Piana bag to kick off her impressive tour.

The royal tour began with a meeting with Colombian Vice President Francia Marquez and her partner. As Victoria Ward, deputy royal editor of the Daily Telegraph, reported in X, “The two enjoyed tea, coffee, and traditional pan de bono (Colombian cheese bread). Ms. Marquez said H&M shares her vision for a safer digital future.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex continued the first day of their Colombian tour with a visit to Colegio Cultura Popular, a charter school in Bogota. Upon arrival, Meghan and Harry were greeted by a student named Jose David, along with Principal Leonel Umaña Parra, People reported. The two then attended an “insight session to discuss social media with students,” and were photographed as they listened attentively.

The students were encouraged to discuss their use of social media and the positives and negatives of being online; according to People, the Duchess of Sussex described the group as “impressive, smart, savvy,” and “independent of technology.” . The Sussexes then met with many of the students during recess, and the school visit was apparently very well received.

Announcing Meghan and Harry's royal tour, Vice President Marquez said on August 1 (from People), “As Vice President of Colombia and Minister of Equality and Equity, I am pleased to announce that Prince Harry, Meghan and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have graciously accepted the invitation to visit our beautiful country.
