Alas, Spice Girls reunion tour won't happen after all
Earlier this year, Mel B raised our hopes that a Spice Girls reunion tour would finally happen. During an appearance on the British chat show Loose Women, Mel B revealed (via People) that “we're definitely doing something.” She continued, “I'm probably going to get mad [if I reveal it], but I said it. But I said it. I'm in trouble now. When the famous fivesome reunited at Victoria Beckham's 50th birthday party in April, a reunion tour seemed like a foregone conclusion. But according to new reports, the reunion has been canceled, and yes, we are totally devastated.
In a new report from MailOnline, a source suggested that it was the feud between Jeri Halliwell and Mel B that ended any hope of a reunion. “Jeri had enough to deal with after all the drama in her husband/assistant relationship,” the source explained, referring to allegations against Halliwell's husband, Christian Horner. The source continued, “She has lost patience with Mel [B] and her little snide remarks and jokes.”
Mel B was reportedly kicked out of the group chat after suggesting a Spice Girls group reunion. And according to MailOnline's sources, Geri wants to distance herself from Mel B for the time being. “She's moved away and it's not really going to happen without Geri,” the source revealed.
“She was the driving force behind the group in the past, but now she doesn't want anything to do with Mel at all, let alone share the stage with him.”
As for whether Jeri and Mel B. could repair their friendship, sources were not so sure. They have always had a tricky relationship, but now it's very messy and no one has been able to smooth things over between them.”
The year 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the Spice Girls' formation, a perfect opportunity for the group to reunite in earnest; in 2015, Mel B reflected on the band's 20th anniversary in an interview with Marie Claire. 'It's great that we're still best friends and we're all so close and supportive of each other in what we're doing. It's fun. It's fun. Hopefully the ultimate girl group can get past their differences.'
