Jennifer Lopez Says Playing a Mother in a “Dysfunctional and Unhealthy” Relationship Was “Very Cathartic”

Jennifer Lopez, who filed for divorce from her husband of two years, Ben Affleck, is back in the spotlight promoting her new film, “Unstoppable,” and talking about the similarities between her and the characters in the film.

During an appearance at the premiere of the film at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday, September 8 (and wearing a head-to-toe side-slit revealing dress), the actress and singer opened up about her character Judy Robles and their tumultuous relationship.

“As a mother, a woman suffers in relationships and finds herself in the midst of unhealthy dynamics.

“It's a complex dynamic about life that I understand really well,” she continued, adding that portraying the real-life “dysfunctional and unhealthy” relationship between Robles and her husband Rich was “very cathartic” for her. 7]

The actress said that “everyone can relate” to the story, and clarified that by “everyone” she meant “a lot of women and men.”

She added that “I think it was very cathartic.
