In an interview this past February, actor and New York fashion icon Chloe Sevigny made a statement that shook up the city's retriever, Frenchie, collie, and doodle owners.

“It's a real shame that athleisure and dogs have taken over,” she told Rolling Stone magazine. 'We all dress in lululemon and we all have dogs. I'm sorry, dog lovers. There are too many.”

The remarks sparked a debate about whether dogs should be allowed in New York City that still rages on Reddit threads and NextDoor forums.
