The queen of couture herself, Rihanna herself, made not one, but two surprise appearances on the first day of this year's New York Fashion Week, and of course did not disappoint.

On Friday, September 6, singer and fashion icon Rihanna appeared at the Alaia fashion show at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum wearing a custom Alaia crystal mesh dress. A writer for Vogue magazine, who was in the audience, described the dress as “a transparent fishnet dress that fell from her shoulders and sparkled like a drop of water with embedded crystals.”

Beneath the droplet-like crystal dress, the mother of two wore a cream satin thong corset with pearls and matching pearl-embellished heels.

Before her surprise appearance at Alaia's show, Rihanna attended The Daily Front Row's 11th Annual Fashion Media Awards at the Rainbow Room at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.

Rihanna wore a pink cotton-candy ankle-length ruffled coat over an identical cream satin corset dress.
