Why Queen Elizabeth called the photographer a “horrible little man

Queen Elizabeth II was a beloved monarch who experienced many iconic fashion moments throughout her reign. However, she also reportedly had a mischievous side and was not afraid to speak her mind when something irked her.

For example, she reportedly thought Donald Trump was “very rude” and had some sort of “arrangement” with Mrs. Melania. She is also said to have called Queen Camilla (then Camilla Parker Bowles), who was having an affair with Prince Charles, a “wicked woman” after a few martinis. So it should come as no surprise that the queen once took issue with a photographer who took a picture of Princess Diana riding a horse.

According to The Sun's Royal Exclusive show, royal photographer Jim Bennett has drawn the ire of Queen Elizabeth. Many years ago, back in the 80s, the Queen was trying to teach Diana to ride a horse.”

Bennett continued. 'They were at Sandringham and the Queen was taking her out. And for some reason, the queen decided to take her down the main road to Anmer Hall (where William and Kate now live). [The situation quickly escalated. Bennett explained, “They saw us and thought we were somehow going to veer off, but obviously Diana was very unsteady on the horse.” The photographer also revealed that Diana seemed to want the riding lesson to end as soon as possible. In other words, she said, 'Please, let me do it quickly. Please, let me do it as soon as possible.

Bennett found herself directly in front of the Queen and Diana on horseback, unable to move out of the way of the Royal Family in time. 'But they kept coming and we took pictures. And when they were literally at the same height as us, she looked down at me and said, 'You horrible little man.'”

Naturally, Bennett was appalled that the queen herself had called him a “horrible little man.” She said, “At that moment I felt like I wanted to disappear into a big hole. Because just by the Queen saying that, and just by looking at you, ...... there was something about the queen,” he told the outlet.

The monarch was probably protecting his daughter-in-law, Princess Diana, who did not have much experience riding horses. Still, there is no denying that the queen was not afraid to speak up from time to time.
