Princess Diana's hairstyle once made Queen Elizabeth “furious,” says royal hairdresser
Richard Dalton, Princess Diana's hairdresser, has revealed what it was like working with Princess Diana in an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail. Dalton's story is told in the forthcoming book It's All About The Hair: My Decade With Diana, written by royal expert René Plant.
“I've never spoken about it publicly before, but in the 27 years since Diana's death, I've been a part of history,” Dalton told the publisher. She was hilarious, funny, impossibly glamorous, and even more beautiful in real life than she was in pictures. I want to share my story to keep her legacy alive,” he continued. [But Diana's hairstyles were not without drama. According to Dalton, the queen was reportedly “furious” when he styled Diana's hair for the opening ceremony of Parliament in 1984. As reported by the Daily Mail, “Dalton decided to experiment by braiding her trademark short hair into an elaborate bun or ‘chignon’ around the Spencer family tiara,” but not everyone liked the result.
