Kaia Gerber wears baggy low-rise jeans with her favorite sneakers
Model and actress Kaia Gerber has been pairing the quintessential '90s look (and, for some of us, inducing it) with her favorite sneakers.
Recently, Gerber was spotted walking the rainy streets of New York wearing a pair of low-rise, wide-leg indigo jeans and her go-to pair of black Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 sneakers with white detailing.
The model completed her fall-appropriate look with a loose-fitting navy v-neck sweater that looked like it came straight off the set of a Meg Ryan rom-com.
For those who don't know, Garber is an avid fan of Onitsuka Tiger and, according to Vogue, owns the brand in three separate colors: black and white, red, white, and blue, and the famous Kill Bill pair in yellow and black.
While the fit was certainly fall-appropriate, Gerber has been known to pair his 2024 comeback It sneakers with spring fashions as well: after arriving at New York's JFK Airport in April, the model wore Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 wide pants, a spring trench coat, and sunglasses.
The model is certainly an ambassador for easy-care, easy-wear shoes, whether spring, summer, or fall.
Reminiscent of another 90s favorite, Gerber was spotted in July wearing a carefree outfit that coordinated timeless black ballet flats, a black Celine shoulder bag, and a black tank top that showed off her tiny belly. This simple yet effective look was in keeping with Gerber's motto of loving sneakers.
For example, Gerber has been known to normalize the decision to wear pajamas outside and elevate even the most modest and comfortable attire as streetwear. Like her ability to show how to wear black and navy or how to creatively wear a trendy white skirt, this model has proven that even a slouchy T-shirt and sweatpants can be chic with a pair of It sneakers.
Gerber's ability to effortlessly straddle the line between Parisian “It” girl and off-duty librarian is iconic and somehow understandable, given that she is simultaneously a famous and certified bookworm.
Her fashion choices are also a testament to the lessons she learned from her famous mother, Cindy Crawford.
“My mother always taught me to be true to myself, to be myself. And I think people might try to change themselves in this industry, so just staying grounded and remembering who I am really helped me get through it.”
