Lupita Nyongo Indirectly Admits Breakup with Joshua Jackson
Lupita Nyongo has admitted that she and Joshua Jackson have broken up.
In a new interview with Harper's Bazaar U.K., Nyongo opened up about her devotion to her cat Yoyo and how owning Yoyo has affected her view of love.
“My love for cats is unique,” the Black Panther actress said. 'If I ever have a romantic love affair again, it will be because of yo. I was ready to close, lock, and bolt that door. He ensured that my heart remained open."
[6Nyongo adopted Yoyo “after a particularly heartbreaking breakup,” the reporter wrote, presumably referring to his breakup with actress Serema Masekela.
In October 2023, the actress shared news of their separation on Instagram with a heartbreaking message that included the words, “For a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception, I find myself in a season of heartbreak.”
Nyongo and Jackson were first rumored to be dating shortly after her breakup with Masekara and after his wife Jodi Turner-Smith from “Dawson's Creek” filed for divorce from him the same month.
The two were photographed holding hands in Joshua Tree around December 2023 and seemingly admitted to dating.
In June of this year, Jackson's ex-girlfriend Turner-Smith commented on his new relationship, telling The Cut, “Good for you. I need happiness to co-parent peacefully. I'm trying to get us to Gwyneth and Chris Martin's level. I really hope they are happy and that it's a positive thing for us as a family.”
(Jackson and Turner-Smith were married in 2019 and have a daughter, Juno, born in April 2020.)
While Nyongo is now single, Jackson was spotted out with model Nastassja Roberts in New York City in September, in a photo published by People.
