Anne Hathaway Apologizes to Journalists for 2012 'Terrible' Interview That Went Viral
Anne Hathaway apologized to a reporter after a “terrible” interview with the pair in 2012 went viral.
Reporter Kjersti Flaa posted a video over the weekend recounting interviews with the cast of Les Miserables: Hugh Jackman, Eddie Redmayne, Amanda Seyfriend, Samantha Barks, Russell Crowe, and Anne Hathaway.
In these interviews, Flaa would sing one of the questions and have the actors sing back their answers. However, Hathaway simply said she would not do that, and continued to give Flaa fairly short answers for the rest of the interview.
Flaa's video went viral online, with many people commenting, calling Hathaway disrespectful and defending her for setting boundaries.
But on Wednesday, Flaa posted a new video, telling her followers that Hathaway had reached out to her to make things right.
“I got an email yesterday. It was from Anne Hathaway's publicist and he forwarded me a message from Anne Hathaway,” the journalist said. 'To be honest, I was quite shocked. I never expected her to contact me at all. I thought she would never see that video. But she did see it. And she did something very wonderful.”
Flaa continued. “She sent me a long email explaining what she was going through when she did this interview and basically apologizing for giving me a terrible interview. It was very touching to me [I'm almost in tears just talking about it. It was a very personal note and I chose not to share exactly what was in the email, but I wanted to share what she did with everyone.
Flaa also recently made headlines after her 2016 interview with Blake Lively and Parker Posey went viral after Flaa called it “the most uncomfortable interview situation I've ever experienced” and said it made her “want to quit my job.”
Lively's team did not respond directly to that viral interview, but a source close to the actress defended her in an interview with People.
