Beyonce Surprises Kamala Harris at Houston, Texas Rally in Power Suit Dress
Beyonce took the stage at Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign rally in Houston, Texas, on October 24, with a powerful message and a strong-shouldered suit dress to match.
Following a Washington Post report that Beyoncé would appear at tonight's rally (and an online frenzy speculating whether she would actually make an appearance), the Cowboy Carter artist endorsed Kamala Harris' candidacy for President of the United States in a passionate speech, broke her silence in the 2024 presidential election.
Beyonce walked off stage hand in hand with former Destiny's Child bandmate Kelly Rowland, who spoke at the rally podium.
“I am not here as a celebrity. I am not here as a politician. I am here as a mother,” Beyoncé told more than 30,000 in-person attendees and 5 million viewers via live streaming across the country. 'As a mother who cares deeply about her children's world.'
In a four-minute speech to Beyoncé's hometown of “H-Town,” the artist honored “proud Texas women.”
“You can't help but feel the energy in this room,” she said. We are on the precipice of incredible change.”Beyoncé welcomed the moment in a collarless blazer mini dress from Wardrobe.NYC. The classic black design featured two rows of buttons and a three-dimensional, structured waist. Underneath, she layered a coordinating miniskirt and paired it with black pointed-toe pumps and translucent pantyhose. She also switched from a platinum short bob from her Cowboy Carter days to honey blonde waves and a deeply styled side part. Beyoncé's longtime stylist, Siona Turini, apparently supervised the look.
The Grammy winner does not often campaign directly for political candidates. Her outfit matched the tone of her speech: one of music's most influential pop stars, Beyoncé was serious and prepared to support a woman in her pursuit of the highest office in the United States during a critical election year. Beyoncé looked confident, but not overly glamorous or unattainable in style, underscoring her message that she is just like the women who will be heading to the polls this November.
“For all the women and men we see across the country, we need you,” she said to cheers from the audience. Your freedom is your God-given right, your human right.”
After her speech, Beyonce welcomed Vice President Kamala Harris to the stage for a speech of her own. The two embraced as cameras flashed and political history was made. Their embrace embodied the final message of the singer's speech: “Are you ready to add your voice to the new American song?
