Katie Holmes won't let go of her $831 Bevza tote bag.
Katie Holmes has officially traded in her barrel-leg jeans for a new style of hyperfixation: she cooked in this indie designer find.On Friday, October 25, the star of Dawson's Creek, currently on Broadway in Our Katie Holmes, who is enjoying a revival of “Town,” wore a purple shirt and sweatpants with a black double-breasted wool coat and sipped coffee on her way to the gym.
But the star of this look is not her perfect fall coat. It's her slim white leather Bevza tote bag. She's used it at least six times with burgundy ballet flats, patchwork jeans, a striped sweater, and a pleated skirt.
Watching Katie Holmes style this bag for a variety of occasions, from work to errands to leisure, I'm beginning to see why she loves it so much. First of all, this 100% leather tote bag is a design that is almost unheard of today. It also features decorative brass spikelets that essentially function as a piece of built-in jewelry. The color is not really white, but a dusty ivory, and it blends in with all the scratches and smudges that are sure to come from wearing it on the streets of New York City. And importantly, it has a magnetic clasp that safely locks the chaos out of the bag.
Holmes further coordinated her look with brown gradient aviator sunglasses and a pair of Pony sneakers, which she was spotted wearing on a walk with her daughter Suri Cruz last week. At the time, she wore a camel-colored longline coat and a gray sweatshirt, a slightly different look. But even then, she wore the same Bevza tote and a pair of pilot sunglasses that certainly looked a bit like Ray-Bans from a distance.
I have yet to track down the exact black coat she is wearing, but in the past month she has worn a butter yellow pea coat from Banana Republic and a long brown jacket from the aforementioned Frankie Shop. Both brands offer similar options in black wool, but COS also offers a solid substitute with a trendy stand-up collar.
What is most enjoyable about Katie Holmes and her ever-changing fall wardrobe is that she often eschews highbrow designers in favor of relatively affordable Aligne, etc. This is what makes her a formidable muse of street style. Most of the clothes she wears are not purely aspirational, but actually feasible.
