In May, when Zendaya attended Tom Holland's “Romeo and Juliet” premiere in a Shakespearean gown, I thought I saw the most romantic form of celebrity date-night dressing. Now, it's October, and the couple is further surpassing that definitive example of a fashion love story.

Hours after Zendaya promoted Tom Holland's new Bero alcohol-free beer brand with parachute pants and official merchandise, the two showed their support for each other in matching burgundy outfits on their date night in New York City on October 24. z is a Tribeca Greenwich Hotel en route to Bero's official launch party in a Merlot leather maxi dress. Styled by Lo Roach, the dress featured a plunge neckline, belted waist, and a shiny fall apple finish. The hem was too long to see the shoes, but since it was Zendaya, we assume there were So Kate pumps underneath. (Unless she's trying on the upcoming Miss Z Louboutin pumps, named in her honor.)

The short walk from the front door to the car also revealed some exciting beauty updates: Zendaya dyed her hair back to a rich chocolate brown after going blonde on the “Challengers” press tour. For date night, she styled it into soft, romantic waves and paired it with light rose eyeshadow and a glossy lip. But her naked manicure was the same as the one she wore with her Cher-inspired naked dress last week in Los Angeles and at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

After posing together at the event, the two were photographed walking back to their hotel hand in hand.

Zendaya and Tom Holland have not had many color-coordinated moments together in public, but they have not been shy about supporting each other in interviews and on social media since they began dating in 2021. Among my friends, Holland's annual serious “Happy Birthday” Instagram post for Z is the equivalent of a national holiday. This summer, Zendaya visited Holland's production of Romeo and Juliet twice, the second time presenting the leading man with a giant bouquet of roses.

Tonight's unusual sightings have earned them a place in the celebrity matching date outfit hall of fame, including Rihanna and Asap Rocky (matching Puma sneakers) and Gracie Abrams and Paul Mescall (dark wash jeans). There is something about Hollywood that drives stylish couples to the same clothing racks and Pantone swatches. Even Hailey Bieber and Justin Bieber pulled out matching leather jackets this week; being A-list, nothing says “I love you” like color coordination and the accompanying photo shoot, I suppose.
