Queen Camilla's son reveals he “learned a long time ago” not to get involved in Prince William and Prince Harry's “world”

Following the publication of his new royal cookbook, Tom Parker Bowles revealed quite a few tidbits about growing up with Queen Camilla as his mother and made some unusual comments about his brothers-in-law, Prince William and Prince Harry, in a new interview with The Telegraph.

Parker Bowles, who released “Cooking & the Crown” in September, told the magazine that news of his mother's affair with the king (then Prince Charles) turned his life upside down.

“It was truly the heyday of the tabloids. I remember being chased at 100 miles an hour and trying to get a picture,” the food writer said.

“My mother got screamed at for trying to get a reaction. Pushing and shoving. It was horrible and you are protecting your mother.”

He added that “counting how many pups were at the gate, seeing who was watching us and taking pictures” had “all become as normal as bacon and eggs in the morning.”

Parker Bowles felt the press intrusion was “barbaric,” but continued, “I wouldn't have thought otherwise.” The food critic said that his own experience with the press allowed him to empathize with his brothers-in-law, Harry and William.

“I learned a long time ago not to stick my fat fingers into William and Harry's world,” he told The Telegraph. 'But what they went through was awful. I've never experienced a billionth of what they had to go through, but hell, I feel sorry for them.”

Although he did not elaborate on his relationship, or lack thereof, with his brothers-in-law (the three are reportedly not close), Parker Bowles, 49, said he will likely attend Christmas with the royal family for the first time this year.

“My mom said, ‘We'd love you to come, we haven't spent Christmas together in a long time,’” he told The Telegraph. 'It's been a hell of a couple of years for them. The older you get, the more you become aware of death, especially with illness and all that.”

In a recent interview with People magazine, the former Masterchef critic admitted that he had never been to a royal Christmas celebration “for a variety of reasons.” This year, however, he appears to be headed to Sandringham, although The Telegraph reports that he is “not 100% sure.”

So what's on the royal Christmas schedule? 'I know there will be turkey and sprouts and church. And you have to bring a suit and a dinner jacket.”
