Princess Diana's friend reveals that Donald Trump once “showered” the royal family with flowers.

When Prince William met with Donald Trump after the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral on December 6, the U.S. presidential candidate said the two had a “wonderful” talk, but the subject of the royal family's late mother, Princess Diana, did not seem to come up.

In the 1990s, Trump reportedly had a bit of a crush on the People's Princess. She is recalled in an article written by her friend Selina Scott.

“He showered Diana at Kensington Palace with copious bouquets of flowers costing hundreds of pounds each,” Scott wrote in a 2015 Sunday Times article (via People).

“As the roses and orchids piled up in her apartment, she became increasingly concerned about what she should do,” Scott wrote.

“She was beginning to feel as if Trump was stalking her.

When Diana sought his advice about the situation, she told Scott, “He gives me the creeps.” [Diana laughed,” Scott added. But when the story picked up, Trump denied having any fondness for Princess Diana, telling Piers Morgan (via Newsweek) that Scott's claim was “an outright lie.”

“I liked her. 'I met her once in New York City standing in line. I read a story that I called her or something, but it was very false."

He said.

He added, “I wasn't interested from that perspective. But I met her once and thought she was nice."

He added, ”I was very interested in her.

An interview with Howard Stern a few years ago seems to suggest otherwise. When radio host Per the Daily Beast asked Trump in 1997 if he “could have nailed” Princess Diana, the business tycoon replied, “I think I could have.”

In 2000, Trump again appeared on The Howard Stern Show, where the controversial radio personality asked, “Would I have slept with her? (referring to Princess Diana), to which Trump replied, “Without hesitation.”

So what did Trump and the Crown Prince discuss?

According to the New York Post, Trump spoke for “a little over half an hour” on a variety of topics, including Prince Charles and Princess Kate.

“I asked him about his wife and he said she was doing well. He loves his father and he loves his wife.” The president-elect also called Prince William “handsome” and said he thought he “looks better in person.” Like mother or like son?
