Fan Mistaken for Taylor Swift in Viral Post of Chiefs-Steelers Game Sets the Record Straight on TikTok

When the Kansas City Chiefs played the Pittsburgh Steelers, the odds of seeing Taylor Swift in the stands were never good. Anyone who paid attention to her patterns before the game (i.e., the fact that she only attended the Chiefs' home games in Kansas City this year), or to information from sources close to the singer, could have predicted that Swift would not show up for the Christmas Day game at Pittsburgh's Acricia Stadium on would have predicted that Swift would not show up for the matchup.

Still, some Swift fans held out hope for a Christmas (/Swiftmas) miracle, and even a photographer held up a sign at the stadium to that very effect.

But there was a glimmer of hope. During the game, fans began posting information on social media platforms such as “Twitter,” “X,” and “TikTok” about supposed Swift sightings at the game.

In photos shared on social media, an un-Swift-like woman with blonde hair, bangs, a white sweater, and prominent red lipstick can be seen enjoying the game from inside the box.

Fans who saw the Swift-like figure were understandably overwhelmed with excitement, joy, and what can only be described as renewed faith in the holiday spirit. Unfortunately, it turns out that the blonde in the box was not the international pop star/billionaire cheering on her NFL star boyfriend.

No, in fact, the blurry figure that was viral was a woman named Olivia (TikTokのユーザー名@olivias.version13から), who happened to be at the game and of course looked a little like Taylor Swift.

Olivia posted a video (apparently her first video) on TikTok to set the record straight.

“Hi, this is really random. I've never posted on TikTok before, but today, I went to the Steelers vs. Kansas City game on Christmas and I was sitting in the box seats with my best friend and we were having a really, really nice time,” she began in the video, explaining that in the excitement of going to the game, something had gone wrong and She explained that she did not realize that something was wrong.

Reflecting on this experience, Olivia remembers that many people seemed to be taking pictures of her and waving at her, but no one's first reaction to someone waving at her was to say that she was now going viral with the Taylor Swift mistaken identity incident. She thought she was being mistaken and she just went along with it.

“I didn't want to be mean or rude, so I waved back,” she explains.

Olivia apparently thought at one point that some people in the stands might have thought she was Taylor Swift and waved back.

“I can tell from a distance. Maybe they thought it was because of the way I was wearing my hair, the way I was wearing my makeup, the red lipstick,” she explains in the video how people who were watching her from afar might have mistaken her for someone else.

While Olivia was not shocked by the idea that strangers glancing at her from across the stadium might mistake her for the “Fortnite” singer, she says she was completely unprepared for the scope of the confusion. In fact, she didn't realize until she left the stadium that her photos were all over social media,

“When the game was over, a staff member came up to me and said, ‘You know they're on Twitter and TikTok, right?’ And they said, 'Oh, yeah.'"

‘I was like, ’Oh, yeah.'

From there, a shocked Olivia scrolled through a page of pictures of herself (and friends) in the match box and said, “Oh my God, Taylor Swift is here. Taylor Swift is in my hometown.”

So how did she feel about being mistaken for Taylor Swift? From the apology she issued to those who mistakenly thought they saw Swift at the Christmas games, it seems she felt a little guilty.

“So sorry to those who thought I was Taylor Swift,” she explained, definitively quashing the rumor that Swift was the woman in the viral photo. People were like, 'Oh, that's Taylor Swift in the white sweater.' It was me.
