Fans think Dolly Parton will be featured on “Taylor Swift (Taylor's Version)”.

Give Swift fans a piece of new information about Taylor Swift's life and they will find a way to interpret it as an Easter egg, or spin it into a theory.

According to reports from Billboard and Uproxx, the latest nugget of Swift information that has the singer's devoted fandom rabbit-holing comes courtesy of country music legend Dolly Parton, who recently followed Swift on Instagram The fan account immediately took a screenshot and shared the receipt with the Internet.

Recent social media connections have led some fans to believe that Swift and Parton are planning a collaboration. Perhaps something to re-record the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” singer's highly anticipated debut album, Taylor Swift (Taylor's Version).

Swift has made her admiration for Parton clear in the past, as when she praised the “Jolene” singer in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2023.

“Dolly is a force of evolution and change in our industry, yet she does it with such playful cheerfulness that it almost seems effortless,” Swift said.

“Her sense of humor and mischievousness is what I love about her.

It's not a stretch to think that if Swift and Parton were indeed to work together on a song, it might be for Taylor Swift (Taylor's version).

Swift's previous Taylor's Version albums, Fearless (Taylor's Version) in April 2021, Red (Taylor's Version) in November 2021, Speak Now (Taylor's Version) in July 2023 ( Taylor's Version)” in October 2023, and ‘1989 (Taylor's Version)’ in October 2023 all contain the previously unreleased song ‘from the vault,’ which Swift wrote while working on the album in question. In addition, three of the four albums (“Fearless” (Taylor's Version), “Red” (Taylor's Version), and “Speak Now” (Taylor's Version)) have featured artists on some of the songs on the vaults.

The artists Swift recruited for collaboration for the Taylor's Version release fit the genre and tone of the Swift album/period in question. Keith Urban and Maren Morris are each featured artists on Fearless (Taylor's Version), while Phoebe Bridgers and Chris Stapleton are featured on Red (Taylor's Version).

It makes perfect sense for Swift to enlist a country music legend like Parton to collaborate on a track from a re-recorded version of her debut album, which is the country genre itself.

And based on Parton's public statements about Swift, it would make sense that she would be fully on board with the idea of a collaboration.

“Taylor Swift's career is amazing. How she has handled her business and personal life, and what she has meant to so many young people.” [She] has been a great inspiration.”
