Cynthia Erivo thinks fans are not ready for Elphaba's new song in “Wicked”: the immensely popular sequel to the adaptation of For Good Gregory McGuire's novel, which became a hit Broadway musical, It won't hit theaters until November 2025, but with filming already underway, the cast and crew have plenty to tease about what's to come.

And apparently, the acclaimed actress and singer has co-written a new song with Broadway show composer Stephen Schwartz for the sequel.

In a new interview on Variety's “Awards Circuit” podcast, Erivo told host Clayton Davis some choice stories about the new song and the impact it had on those who heard her perform it live.

“I don't know if I can say this! It's a song that Elphaba sings and one that Glinda, played by Ariana Grande, sings.

“I don't know if you're ready for it,” the fashionable star told Davis. 'I mean, I love the song, and I remember the cast and crew crying when we shot it. So I don't know. I don't know if it was because they were emotional that day or if the song just made them that way.”

She added, “I feel like this song is very, very special. I don't want to say more than that.” Although she did not reveal the name of the song, she teased, “I feel like even the title would move you.”

Given the power of Elivo's voice, there are sure to be many tears shed when the world hears this song for the first time.
