2024 Best Celebrity Couple Outfits: Matching is the Language of Love

Last year it seemed as if no one had escaped the clutches of celebrity divorce. In some cases, the announcement came with relief. Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady had been bickering for years about the priority of his career in their relationship. Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez had not been seen together in public virtually since their wedding day two years ago. In other cases, however, the news sent debris flying in all directions. Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner waged an intercontinental war against each other in the court of public opinion. The shocking breakup of Jeremy Allen White and Addison Timlin exacerbated every woman's worst fears that she would one day be replaced by Rosalia.

Indeed, 2023 was a monument to dismemberment. But 2024 was curiously optimistic, emerging from the wreckage with no baggage; for the best celebrity couples of 2024, the year was all about the thrill of mutual obsession in matching outfits.

Take, for example, Bella Hadid and her rodeo star boyfriend, Adan Banuelos. When the supermodel quietly moved to Texas, it became clear that these two were getting serious. Nevertheless, it was on the PDA-filled stage at the Chemo-Sabe pop-up in New York City in September that the two really got engaged for seconds. After touring the city in their Western Date Night attire, the two prepared for a horse logging demonstration in the middle of the Meatpacking District. Dressed in his and her cowboy boots, ten-gallon hats, and leather fringe chaps, they leaned in for a kiss on horseback.

Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper did not appear on the red carpet, but instead stepped out in casual attire, using items from the model's cashmere knitwear line, Guest in Residence. their love was erewhon official in sweatpants at the end of October to Hadid, and in November Hadid was spotted wearing a cherry red sweater with his crew-neck T-shirt.

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco's couple style has a similar sense of security and comfort. In November, on the eve of their first wedding anniversary and engagement, the couple donned matching clogs for a dinner date at Sushi Park.

In between backstage lovemaking sessions, Dua Lipa and Callum Turner have been jet-setting together all year round; in March, their complementary travel attire, centered around a sleek leather jacket, was a perfect match for the pop star and her actor boyfriend who seemed to suggest they were living out of the same suitcase.

Similarly, Gracie Abrams and Paul Mescall already seem to be borrowing clothing, or at least style cues, from each other: in October, when the two were in town for the singer's series of concerts at Radio City Music Hall, they wore jeans, Indie Darling sunglasses and embraced the graphic T-shirt revival.

Of course, it's up to the individual to decide what goes well together. In true WAG fashion, Te'o Swift never misses a chance to dress in Travis Kelce's team colors on game day. But even on nights when they are free to show off their respective personal styles, the two end up dressed similarly. What really ties the two together is their shared preference for maximalism, both artistically and philosophically.

Rihanna and Asap Rocky could teach a master class in maximizing joint slay. These two certainly know how to shut down the red carpet. But nothing says mom and dad more than the rapper and PUMA's sold-out collaboration of matching sneakers. We can only hope the stunt is repeated with Rihanna's new PUMA Avanti cleats.

Zendaya and Tom Holland have made every effort to divert attention away from their relationship whenever possible. Nevertheless, they turned up the heat at the launch party for Holland's Zero Alcohol Beer brand in burgundy date-night outfits. Color coordination has never looked so sultry and strategic.

The love affair between Lily-Rose Depp and 070 Shake is somewhat nostalgic, like a Gen Z take on Yoko Ono and John Lennon. At the Shake's “A Night at the Ballet” listening party in November, the rapper looked dashing in a pinstriped three-piece suit, while Depp played the ultimate girlfriend in a vintage Chanel dress. But the rock star and rock star girlfriend vibe really follows them everywhere they go, so much so that at a Lakers game in March, the two were seen dressed as Kate Moss and Pete Doherty.

So tell your partner that big romantic gestures are out in 2024 and probably forever. In a world where labels and formality seem to matter less and less, the sexiest thing a couple can do together is neither sex nor marriage.
