Jennifer Lopez shopping for rare Himalayan Birkin in matching Snow White coat.
Today's “Stars Are Not Like Us” Moment: Jennifer Lopez was spotted out shopping with her 16-year-old daughter Emme this weekend, braving the holiday retail crowds.
But today we have a reminder that “stars are not like us either” moment: Lopez was carrying an ultra-rare Himalayan croc Birkin bag that cost $500,000 that day.
Lopez, her daughter, and the Himalayan croc Birkin were spotted shopping at the Ralph Lauren and Uniquities Consignment House antique store in Beverly Hills on Saturday, December 21. This is because, in addition to being extremely expensive, the bag is also extremely rare. The luxury auction house Madison Avenue Couture called the bag the “Holy Grail” of all Birkin styles, and it ranks among the rarest of Lopez's personal Birkin collection.
The Himalayan croc Birkin is the natural star of any outfit. That doesn't mean it isn't worth appreciating Lopez's last-minute shopping looks, including an oversized, ankle-length Snow White-like coat and white sunglasses.
Lopez has recently made a niche for “last-minute holiday shopping while carrying unusually expensive bags.” On Friday, the Unstoppable actress was spotted shopping at the Brentwood Country Mart with what appeared to be a navy crocodile-skin Hermes Kelly bag she picked up during her Black Friday Hermes shopping spree on Rodeo Drive.
For that outing, Lopez paired an oversized gray Coach winter coat, baggy jeans, white sneakers, and a reported $80,000 bag for a casual Christmas shopping look.
In other words, Lopez is “just like us” (shopping in baggy jeans and white sneakers) and “just like us” (most people's cars... Or while carrying a bag that costs more than a house), which is yet another reminder that we are not.
