Princess Diana hoped that Prince Harry and Prince William would grow up experiencing “life beyond the palace walls.

For their two sons, Princes William and Harry, Princess Diana has always been a loving mother, and after her sudden and tragic death in 1997, Harry and William lost their mother. However, according to one royal expert, William and Harry seem to be following in their mother's footsteps when it comes to raising their own children and, as such, are carrying on her legacy.

In a column for i Paper, former BBC royal correspondent Jenny Bond revealed what Princess Diana wanted for her sons William and Harry. Bond writes, “I remember Princess Diana, William's mother, telling me that she wanted her two sons to be raised in a way that no other royal prince had been.” And she did her best to give them an idea of what life was like beyond the palace walls.”

Bond also reflects on how Prince William internalized his mother's wishes and fostered the same freedom in his own children. 'Prince William and Princess Catherine went further. They moved out of Kensington Palace and into a relatively modest home with no live-in staff.”

Royal experts also noted that the Crown Prince and Princess “are regular commuters and chose the school specifically because of its philosophy that courtesy, kindness, and empathy are fundamental values in life.”

Bond also suggested that Prince William's attendance at Taylor Swift concerts and taking his son to soccer games exemplify Princess Diana's own parenting style. The royal correspondent explained, “Prince William is very cool, something his father [Prince Charles], who spent his childhood in daycare with a nanny, could never do.”

“This,” he explained, “is to the advantage of the future King George, who has at least a vague connection with reality.

Following Princess Kate's cancer diagnosis and subsequent chemotherapy, the royal family appears to have changed priorities. Bond noted that they are already operating differently from the late Queen Elizabeth, “William and Catherine have indicated that they intend to balance work and life.”

“William, in particular, has come under fire for keeping his school vacations in the loop as much as possible,” Bond wrote.

“But I applaud his determination to be as much of a father as possible, especially during his wife's illness. And perhaps most importantly, Princess Diana's legacy continues.
