If you are a Netflix subscriber and have yet to dip your toe into the world of Korean entertainment, you are in the minority. According to streaming giant Netflix, “more than 80% of Netflix members worldwide watch Korean content,” and Korean-language TV shows and movies are the most popular with U.S. viewers, along with Spanish and Japanese content. 2024 will be the 2024 was one of the biggest years for K-drama and Korean reality shows on the platform, with shows such as “Queen of Tears,” “Parasite: The Grey,” “Physical: 100 Season 2,” and “Cooking Class Wars” dominating the platform.

With “Squid Game” Season 2 exiting Netflix's 2024 Korean drama slate on December 26, it's time to look forward to the films that will fill the 2025 watch list. For now, Korean TV shows airing in 2025 will feature new stories starring some of Hallyu's biggest stars, and several hit reality shows will return; we invite you to take a look at our list of the best Korean dramas to air on Netflix in 2025.

In 1982, the film “Madame Aema” was one of the box office hits of the year and made history as the most erotic Korean film of the time. 1980s Korean film capital Chungmuro This comedy series is a fictionalized depiction of the film's production process, set in Chungmuro, the heart of the Korean film industry in the 1980s. The characters include Jung Hee-ran (Lee Hane), a diva removed from the lead role due to studio troubles; Shin Joo-ae (Pong Hyo-rin), a nightclub dancer suddenly chosen to be the film's new star; and Kwak In-woo (Cho Hyun-chul), a timid new director about to make his directorial debut.

This new drama (formerly known as “Everything Will Come True”) follows the adventures of Jin (Kim), a genie who awakens from a centuries-long sleep, and Ga-yeon (Bae), who has three wishes come true.

The film is directed by the Hong sisters, the famed screenwriting duo behind “Alchemy of Souls” and “Hotel del Luna.” According to the description, “An unexpected romance develops between multilingual translator Joo Ho Jin and world-renowned celebrity Cha Moo Hee, and their professional relationship takes an unpredictable and heartwarming turn.”

For viewers more interested in a game of mental tact than physical prowess, “The Devil's Plan” will return for a second season. Contestants from various fields, including doctors, actors, professional poker players, and K-pop idols, will compete in a highly sophisticated psychological game for a prize of 250 million won (about $173,000).

Historical K-drama adapted from the novel “Hong Ran” by Jang Da-hee: The story follows the bond between step-siblings Hong Ran (Lee Jae-wook of “Soul Alchemy”) and Jay (Cho Bo-ah of “Destiny”). More than 10 years after Hong Ran disappeared when she was 8 years old, Hong Ran returns home with no memory of her disappearance, and Jay “struggles between his suspicion and love for his mysterious stepbrother” (from Netflix).

“The Squid Game” Season 1's Park Hye-su and “Hometown Cha Cha Cha” star Shin Mina in this crime thriller K-drama based on the Kakao webtoon of the same name. According to the announcement, the show depicts “the tangled lives of people who end up repeating the cycle of karma with each other, without knowing how or why.”

Webtoon writer (or manhwa) and TV personality KIAN84 will lead this new variety show, which will feature a variety of guests including BTS member Jin and actress Ji Ye-eun, and is described as “a guest house that operates somewhere between healing and laughter.” It is described as.

This mystery thriller K-drama boasts an all-star cast, including Jung Do-young of Kil Bok-soon, Kim Go-eun of Goblin, Park Hye-su of Squid Game, and Jin Seong-kyu of Extreme Job. The show's description reads, “Genius surgeon Baek Gang-hyuk transforms a trauma team at a budget-strapped university hospital into a life-saving trauma center.”

This highly anticipated K-drama (also known as “Eun Jung & Sang Young”) follows “the journey of two friends with an enduring and complicated love-hate relationship,” according to Netflix. Childhood friends Ryu Eun Jung (Goblin's Kim Go Eun) and Jung Sang Young (Reborn Rich's Park Ji Hyun) reunite at the age of 42 while facing a major challenge in Sang Young's battle with cancer. Kim Gang-woo of Glory also appears in the film.

Weak but Winning Year 1 was one of the best thriller dramas of 2022, following high school student Yeon Shi-woon (Park Ji-hyun) as he confronts brutal school violence. After transferring to a new school, Shi-woon takes on a new group of bullies. Season 2 also stars Yoo Soo-bin (Crash Landing on You), Ryoo-eun (Twinkling Watermelon), and Choi Min-young (Twenty-Five Twenty-One).
