The King's Foundation celebrated its 35th anniversary, and to mark the occasion, King Charles hosted a special reception with the Foundation's ambassadors at Dumfries House in Scotland on Wednesday, January 15.

The 80-year-old rock star and his 53-year-old wife Penny Lancaster were named the new ambassadors of the King's Foundation, and the couple were joined at the event by legendary British gardener Alan Titchmarsh. Stewart and Lancaster watched as Dr. King placed items into a time capsule that will hold various items throughout the charity's 35th anniversary.

In a video shared by the Royal Family Channel on YouTube, the King laughed and pointed his tool at Stewart as the “Maggie May” singer covered her face with her hands and ducked. Prince Charles continued to laugh as he placed a garden gnarled tree in a crate, received a letter from a staff member, and declared, “Bury it at the bottom.”

Stewart has long been associated with the royal family. The “Downtown Train” singer has been a longtime supporter of the Kings Trust (formerly the Prince's Trust) and performed at Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee in 2022. Sir Rod Stewart was also knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 2016.

Along with David Beckham and Sienna Miller, he is an ambassador for the Kings Foundation, which, according to the Foundation's website, “gives more than 15,000 students each year the opportunity to learn practical skills rooted in nature and tradition to become active in their communities and . and help them become active members of their communities.”

On January 16, King Charles shared a smile and a laugh with staff from The Gate, a charity that helps the homeless and food insecure in Scotland. He also met with representatives from Forth Valley Welcome, Home-Start Clackmannanshire, Breathe Easy, and other organizations that have received the King's Voluntary Service Award and the Queen's Voluntary Service Award.
