Prince Harry was an "angry young man" before he met Meghan

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's relationship is literally a fairy tale. The handsome prince and the beautiful actress escape their restrictive palace life for a quiet civilian life ...... Even the short version sounds like the 1996 film starring Hugh Grant.

But according to Princess Diana's royal biographer Andrew Morton, recently interviewed by "Podcast Royal," Prince Harry was not in a dark place in the years before he met Meghan. "He had a hard time finding himself," Morton told the show's co-hosts. He was having a hard time finding himself, losing his mother, and coming to terms with that."

Morton describes Harry as a young man who "didn't know where to turn" and "a very angry young man." As the Daily Mail points out, this was also a time when Harry made headlines for a series of false choices: wearing a Nazi armband at a costume party, fumbling with a photographer outside a nightclub, and being photographed naked after a game of strip pool during a trip to Las Vegas.

According to Morton, Harry was "taking on the world" at this time. Until he started playing the Invictus Game, which Morton describes as Harry's "calling in life," and until he met Meghan Markle shortly thereafter. Morton told the podcast host, "Even when she fell for Harry, I think she insisted that he get counseling for the anger issues he was having."

Morton sees their relationship in a different light, and the difficulties Harry faced as a young man make the health of their marriage now more relatable and meaningful.
